Tier 3 Visa – This category was originally designed for low-skilled workers filling specific temporary labor shortages and no longer exists. The Government never allocated any visas under this scheme.

Student Visa Previously called the Tier 4 visa, this category is for overseas students who wish to study in the UK.

The Tier 4 Student visa caters for students from outside the UK or EEA who are looking to study a full-time degree level course at a university, college or other eligible educational institution in the UK.

What is a Tier 5 visa?

A Tier 5 visa is a temporary work visa for people who want to come to the UK for a short time. There are 6 different types, including creative and sporting, charity, religious worker, and youth mobility scheme.

A total of 70 points is required. Attributes like: English skills; qualifications; and being under 26 all count towards the total. Having an offer of a skilled job from an approved employer and being able to speak English would give 50 points for example.
